I am trying to gather some input...

Does anyone have any suggestions for someone in another country that would like to understand the NFL?

From my own experience the best way to learn is to watch the games, maybe have someone there to explain the plays but, eventually you'll get the rules down via the announcers.

Check the wikipedia entry for the basics... 4 downs, 10 yards, TD's are 6 points, etc.

Also, do a search for "football strategy" on Amazon. There a tons of books on rules, plays, strategy, history, etc. I'd recommend Bill Belicheck's book, as he is the zen master.

Football 101 may be the ticket: football.calsci.com [football.calsci.com]

I'm sending the link to all the Steeler o-linemen, too.
